Parameter Calculator General Help

Introduction

This PlugIn allows you to calculate values based on events and individual trajectory data within a trial.

Events can be generated manually within Workstation, or by using another PlugIn such as PlugInGait from Vicon or the EventCorrelator PlugIn.

Once you have events in a trial, you can perform measurements such as time delays, or percentage calculations based on the relative times of different events, and you can calculate values based on  named trajectory data at particular event times.

Trajectories can represent real marker data, but may also be derived from a previous modelling stage (such as Vicon's PlugInModeller). Thus an immensely wide range of measurements may be made, making Parameter Calculator an extremely powerful tool.

Cycle Calculation

All values are calculated on a cyclic basis (depending on how many matching events there are in the trial) and results from each cycle, and the mean of all cycles, are calculated.

The cycle detection algorithm which lies at the heart of the Parameter Calculator allows cycles to be identified and matched, even though they may lie in different contexts, and even when events are missing in a cycle for one of the contexts.

The results can be saved either in the trial as an "Analysis" group of data, which can be read by programs such as Vicon Polygon, or they can be saved as a text file in either spreadsheet format, or as a simple text report. See the Output page for more information.

Analyzers

To define a measurement, you must first define an "analyzer". There are several different analyzer types, which make different, simple, measurements for each matching instance of events and trajectories. Each analyzer you define appears in a list in the Settings dialog. Buttons allow you to create new analyzers, and to edit or destroy existing ones.

Subjects

EventAnalyzer is fully "Subject Aware". If you have more than one subject in the trial, it will generate measurements for each subject independently. If you have just one subject, it doesn't matter if your markers have the subject prefix or not, nor whether your events are assigned to a particular subject or not.
